Lake County Public Works Department Demonstration
Tuesday afternoon on May 19, the KCA parking lot was transformed into a "Public Works Department Work Site". Road Superintendent, Mr. Steve Stangland and his crew demonstrated to the students some of the various heavy equipment the department uses on a daily basis. The students learned that the Public Works Department clears roads from snow and mudslides in addition to maintaining roads by repaving and filling in potholes, as well as, building bridges and cutting back brush along the roadways. They cover roads throughout Lake County including the dirt roads up to Lake Pillsbury and Bartlett Springs. In addition to teaching the students about the many tasks the Public Works Department completes, they helped the students cool down on this hot afternoon with a little water from their new tanker truck!
